Trek Dirt Series came through town last weekend and I was fortunate enough to get an invite to tag along. Along with making some new friends, I got to follow along and witness first-hand the instruction from the coaches as well as the progression exhibited by Dirt Series attendees. Mountain biking, like everything else, is all about the fundamentals. Once those are mastered, it’s amazing how much more confident you can ride trails and features that once gave you pause.
More skills = more confidence = more fun.
Pre-camp, I met up with coaches Erin, Amy, & Dawn for a tour of Park City’s best.
Dawn instructing attendees on how to drop it like it’s hot.
Like every other sport, mountain biking is all about the fundamentals. Attendees of the Trek Dirt Series can choose from a series of skill for which they’d like to improve including drops, high-speed turns, switchbacks, front wheel lifts & wheelies, as well as straight line and skinnies riding.
Both days of the camp, the afternoons are reserved for trail rides giving attendees a chance to practice what they’ve learned that morning out in the wild. It was pretty rad to follow along with this group of gals, most of who had never hit these features, and watch them send the shit like pros with proper coaching.
