Deer Valley Partners With Gravity Logic on New Trails

When most people think of Deer Valley, thoughts of fur, Bogner onesies, and stodgy old rich people are usually what come to mind. However, what most don’t know, is that they were one of the first resorts to keep the lifts spinning during the summer for mountain bikers. In fact, Deer Valley used to be one of the only places for lift-served dowhnill mountain biking in the US, hosting World Cup race events throughout the 90’s and early 2000’s. Yet for whatever reason, the momentum Deer Valley’s bike scene once had was lost throughout the last ten years or so, and instead, mountain biking at Deer Valley never made the jump into the 21st century. If you like old-school tech with drops to flat into a tight off-camber switchback, then up until now, Deer Vally has been the place.

With that said, we were pleasantly surprised to see the latest announcement come across that Deer Valley has brought on board Gravity Logic, of Whistler Bike Park fame, to consult and help improve existing trails as well as assist in building new trails moving forward. On the docket for summer 2015 is an intermediate flow-style trail from the top of Bald Mountain to Silver Lake Lodge, as well as a connection between Mid-Mountain at Silver Lake and the top of Deer Crest/Devo trails, circumventing the current access road climb up Bald Eagle. These updates are slated to begin in June with an expected August completion date.

Mountain bike manager Steve Graff has this to say on the subject of partnering with Gravity Logic to modernize Deer Valley Resort’s mountain bike trails, “Gravity Logic is known for having designed and built some of the planet’s most well-known, most-ridden and time-tested trails … we are excited to work with one of the most prominent designers in the world to create an even greater resort trail system that has more mass appeal for novice to expert bikers.”

Needless to say, we are stoked.
