Park City XC Mountain Bike Trails

Coyote Canyon

Coyote Canyon
A relatively new trail, Coyote Canyon offers up great early season riding with phenomenal views of Mount Timpanogos and the Heber Valley.

Coyote Canyon, Trail With A View

A relatively new trail built by the Wasatch Trails Alliance. Though this is strict XC riding, it does offer a long, strenuous downhill. It would be nice to see a little more thought put into the flow and design of the trail, however Coyote Canyon is a great first step in what I hope is to become a larger network of trails.

When to Ride Coyote Canyon

Coyote is typically snow free by early May. Because of it’s extreme exposure, you’ll want to avoid this trail mid-day, especially during the summer months. Coyote Canyon is a perfect candidate for a night ride while howling at the moon.

Coyote Canyon Conditions

Unfortunately there is no resource for up-to-date trail conditions for Heber Valley Trails. If you’ve ridden the trail recently or ran any recon, feel free to leave a comment below.

Coyote Canyon Apres Bike

Pickens are slim. Best to bring your own and enjoy post-ride refreshments from your tailgate.

Coyote Canyon Ride Options

There are two recommended rides, both starting from the HWY 32 (Riverview) trailhead. Park in the dirt lot and cross the cattle fence to access the trail. If you plan on riding the full 20.2 mile loop, CCW is by far the most fun finishing the loop descending down the Riverview trail, although you forego some of the views of Timpanogos. Alternatively, you can ride Riverview trail as an out-and-back for an abbreviated 15 mile ride by making a left at the first intersection (as if you were doing the loop clockwise.) Once you hit the top of the climb 7.5 miles up, turn around and descend back down.
